- Oversee daily finish grinding to meet customer specifications.
- Inspects rail for defects.
- Attend annual Holland Safety Training.
- Participate and pass all necessary on-site job safety training.
- Complete all railway specific training courses.
- Use of all required tools and equipment for this position (as listed above).
- Attend and participate in ongoing training.
- Ability to participate and understand daily job briefings for safety and quality.
- Attend regular safety meetings.
- Attend periodic quality classes.
- Report all safety violations and unsafe conditions.
- Keep work area clean and organized.
- Field train new finish grinding operators and explain work procedures.
- Service and maintain equipment.
- Wear protective equipment such as hard hat, hearing protection, safety-toe boots, and safety glasses.
- Other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to perform required daily stretching exercises.
- Throughout entire length of shift, ability to stand; use hands and fingers to touch, feel, handle, or manipulate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; speak and hear; walk, stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, crouch, and crawl.
- Ability to continually operate a Gas powered, Hydraulic or Electric grinder while standing with the grinder positioned at the waist level.
- Ability to install and remove rail clamps weighing approximately 20 lb.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Audio & Visual acuity.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Exposure on a regular basis to extreme weather conditions.
- Exposure to dust and smoke during operations.
- Exposure to noisy conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED is preferred
- Some job-related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred, not required
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to successfully complete all pre-employment testing required by Holland L.P.
