Field Service Technician-WTG - University Park, IL

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Working in full compliance and procedures of the Holland Company Safety program to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Applying safety & 5-S discipline, practices and enforcement of Holland Company safety policies.
  • Understanding and following all Holland and WTG Division Operating Policies and Guidelines.
  • Use of mechanical and hydraulic skill sets to perform general maintenance and repairs to the hydraulic and mechanical systems of the WTG fixed plant and mobile welders.
  • Disassembly, servicing, and reassembly of machinery components back to functional operating condition meeting existing standards.
  • Using a variety of hand and power tools and testing equipment to service the WTG fixed plant and mobile welders.
  • Follow program directives to perform mechanical testing on various components of the WTG fixed plant and mobile welders.
  • Use of welding and metal cutting skills to repair and restore worn or damaged components to standard service condition.
  • Follow program directives to perform hydraulic flow and bypass testing on various components on the WTG fixed plant and mobile welders.
  • Adjusting and setting various hydraulic valves and pump controls to meet Holland specifications.
  • Utilizing Holland’s NCR (Non-Conformance Reporting), OFI (Opportunity For Improvement) and Quality Control Processes to maintain the Quality and Continuous Improvement objectives.
  • Conform to Holland Housekeeping policies.
  • Occasionally assisting other department personnel in completing any objective or tasks with proper guidance from key personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Special projects or work as assigned.
  • Provide clear work order documentation and reports when needed.
  • Provide training and technical knowledge on full range of equipment.
  • Effectively interface with external and internal customers as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to lift to 50lbs with reasonable accommodations.
  • Ability to climb in and out of mobile operating equipment.
  • Ability to work while standing, walking, bending, stooping, twisting and sitting for extended periods are required to perform basic job functions.
  • Ability to work 40 plus hours
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
  • Exposure on a regular basis mostly indoor and sometimes outdoor weather conditions.
  • Wearing and use of all PPE and any additional safety related gear to perform job functions.
  • Focused environment that supports safety and housekeeping practices
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have High School diploma or equivalent.
  • College or tech school certificate in applicable field.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working on or performing maintenance and or repairs on various heavy industrial hydraulic and mechanical operated equipment.
  • Some electrical or electronics background desired but not required.
  • Experience with reading and using mechanical drawings, schematics, blueprints, or BOM’s (bills of materials) to determine actions required for repairs of equipment.
  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools.
  • Ability to repair broken bolts and damaged threaded holes (use of drills, extractors and thread tapping).
  • Basic welding skills such as mig, tig, or stick
  • Ability to use gas oxygen torch and plasma cutter for cutting and repairing of basic steel structures.
  • Knowledge in working with hydraulic valves, cylinders, hosing and filtration in the maintenance or repair of equipment.
  • Field related training certificates and endorsements are positively reviewed.
  • Have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Ability to travel frequently by ground, air, and rail.
  • Passport or ability to obtain a passport.
  • Occasional overtime required.
  • Achieve and maintain Forklift driver certificate.
