Technical Writer

We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to design and develop and write documentation for enterprise grade tools and applications.

As a member of the Finance & General Accounting team, you will not only write superior help text, but also identify what documentation is needed, create templates for other contributors to use, and help drive the ongoing development of our in-house authoring platform. Finance & General Accounting team members work independently on projects, but within the framework of a close-knit team. 

Responsibilities

·       Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements.

·       Research, analyze, and author documentation topics with guidance from a senior writer.

·       Edit documents for convention and style to maintain proper look and feel in all documentation.

·       Identify and make recommendations for improvement in the documentation and review processes.

·       Contribute to department internal documentation and procedures.

·       Test the software to confirm that it works the way it is documented to work.

Minimum qualifications

·       Bachelor’s degree in technical writing or communication, or a related discipline with equivalent in technical writing training.

·       Ability to speak and write clearly, so that both technical and non-technical audiences can understand.

·       Ability to describe complex processes clearly and concisely.

·       Demonstrated eye for detail and consistency. 

·       Familiarity with writing style manuals; ability to organize and format material in accordance with a standardized format.

·       Understand financials related to accounting.

·       Effective time-management skills; ability to prioritize, follow-through with tasks, juggle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.

·       Comfortable interviewing subject matter experts and receiving and giving feedback.

Preferred qualifications

·       Experience writing about general accounting.

·       Working knowledge of HTML.

·       Experience with topic-based writing.

·       Experience working in enterprise software.

·       Basic familiarity with the agile software development process.

Starting salary range:  $55,000 - $80,000 depending on experience.

 

Position located in Denver, CO; All applicants should be prepared to work three or more days onsite.
