Lead Maintenance & Repair Technician - University Park, IL

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • The duties will include, but will not be limited to:
  • Working in full compliance and procedures of the Holland Company Safety program to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Appling safety & 5-S discipline, practices and enforcement of Holland Company safety policies.
  • Understanding and following all Holland and MOD Division Operating Policies and Guidelines.
  • Lead team members and provide guidance to assigned work cell or team members.
  • Mentor apprentices and Technicians with work instructions, Process Improvement initiatives, Safety programs, performance metrics and assigned training programs.
  • Training personnel / cross training / documentation and records.
  • Assist in testing, FAT’s and certifications.
  • Supply quality products to all customers.
  • Maintain key plant measurements.
  • Maintain all related equipment.
  • Maintain clean and organized shop at all times.
  • Attend and supply key input to production meetings.
  • Participate in LEAN training and develop and support process improvement practices.
  • Participate and support technical training programs as requested by the Shop or Program Manager.
  • Utilizing Holland’s NCR (nonconformance reporting), OFI (Opportunity for Improvement) and Quality Control Processes to maintain the Quality and Continuous Improvement objectives.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to work while standing, walking, bending, stooping, twisting and sitting for extended periods are required to perform basic job functions.
  • Hands on working position.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds is regularly required.
  • Vision must be sufficient for reading electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical prints and schematics. 
  • Ability to climb in and out of mobile operating equipment.
  • Ability to work 40 plus hours.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
  • Exposure on a regular basis to mostly indoor and sometimes out door weather conditions.
  • Could be working at off sight locations either inside or outside.
  • Shop environment, dry conditions, heated shop, non-air-conditioned, concrete floors, fully lighted.
  • Including welding, grinding, cranes and fork trucks.
  • Wearing and use of all PPE and any additional safety related gear to perform job functions.
  • Focused environment that supports safety and housekeeping practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3-year experience working with performing maintenance, repairs or assembling various heavy industrial hydraulic and mechanical operated equipment.
  • Experience with multitasking daily and weekly tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with customers, employees, management, and vendors.
  • Ability to read and understanding mechanical, hydraulic and electrical drawings.
  • Ability to read and use BOM’s (Bill of Materials) and part structures to order and inventory parts necessary to maintain the PM program.
  • Ability to use electrical diagnostic tools (e.g., electrical multi meter) and mechanical measuring tools (e.g., tape measure, micrometers, calipers, flow meters) to record data from testing and inspections.
  • Employee should be quality conscious, self-motivated with strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Ability to make and facilitate decisions.
  • Have good oral communication skills.
  • Be detailed orientated with good organizational and paperwork skills.
  • Have good coaching and training skills.
  • Have good math skills. 
  • Have basic computer skills (including excel and word) to learn the company’s software programs (Quickbase, IFS) needed to Manage the Annual PM program
  • Possess a valid drivers license and meet the Holland Vehicle Fleet Policy.
  • Achieve and maintain Forklift driver certificate.
  • Ability to successfully complete all pre-employment testing required by Holland L.
